We’re proud to partner with the City of Whitesburg, the Mountain Heritage Festival Committee, Appalshop, Whitesburg/Letcher County Farmer’s Market and CANE Kitchen to bring free live music to downtown Whitesburg for a second time this summer.  The Levitt AMP Whitesburg Music Series will present live music to the Mountain Heritage stage every Thursday from May 30-August 8.  Ten Thursdays and ten exciting evenings of professional entertainment performing a wide range of musical genres in a family friendly environment.

Cowan was the recipient of the prestigious Levitt AMP Series grant, one of fifteen awarded to small and medium size towns across the country.  The grant covers about half the cost of putting on the series, with matching funds raised through sponsorships and donations.  The Whitesburg proposal received the highest vote count in the public comment phase while being the smallest town in the running.  For more information about our series, visit the official Levitt AMP Whitesburg Music Series site.

The Levitt AMP City Name Music Series is supported in part by the Mortimer & Mimi Levitt Foundation, a private foundation that empowers towns and cities across America to transform underused public spaces into thriving destinations through the power of free, live music. In 2018, nearly 500 free Levitt concerts will take place in 26 towns and cities, all featuring a rich array of music genres and high caliber talent. Learn more at levitt.org.
